Gilgamesh - Hero?

There was a king named Gilgamesh, he ruled the city of Uruk. One day him and his friend were tired and bored of staying in the same city. They decided that it was time to take an adventure. The next day, Gilgamesh and his friend went into the Cedar woods and began their adventure. The people of the city were against Gilgamesh and his friend going on this adventure because of the demon who rules the Cedar woods, they called him Humbaba. Humbaba was said to be a very powerful demon, but this didn't scare Gilgamesh or his friend. On the way into the woods Gilgamesh and his friend walked over a bridge, at the end of this bridge was the demon Humbaba. Gilgamesh was instantly scared of the evil demon, but his friend was not afraid. As Gilgamesh ran away to hide, his friend confronted the demon and started to fight. Gilgamesh was afraid that his friend wouldn't come back alive, but to his surprise his friend had defeated Humbaba. The End.

In my opinion, I believe Gilgamesh was not hero. Truly, his friend was the real hero. The reason why he was the hero was that, Gilgamesh was too afraid to confront the demon, and his friend wasn't. That shows me that Gilgamesh isn't brave and that his friend, is.

The story of a Mesopotamian

we have been having some problems in sumer. Some kinds of problems we have been having is flash flooding, and after we solved the flooding problem and another problem came it was cleaning up the silt, from the leaves we built. Another problem we have been facing is the problem with when it was to hot all of the water would dry up and we wouldn't have any water.Kristen Arellano*Princeton*
